IBD has so many beautiful gel nail colors that it’s so hard to choose! I have some awesome colors to show you today and all 4 are perfect for winter! The first two also illustrate what I think IBD does best and that is shimmer. Their shimmer polishes are so gorgeous and these first two colors definitely showcase that.
Meteorite is a dark blue gel polish with a lighter blue shimmer. This color is magnificent! I would call it slightly brighter than navy blue. The only thing I don’t like about this color is that it doesn’t look great on me. 🙁 Boo. It makes my skin look yellow, which happens with most blue colors. I did 3 coats. I have gotten away with 2 coats and was happy with opacity, but it made my skin look mega yellow with only 2 coats so now I always do 3. I have used this color on my sisters-in-law and even some of my sisters and it looks amazing on them. I’m not sure why I was the only one who was “blessed” to look yellow with most blue gel polishes. Anyway, enjoy the glory that is IBD Meteorite because it is lovely.
This is another gorgeous shimmer polish. It is purple with a red shimmer. It is very similar to IBD Con-fuchsion, but slightly more red-toned and the shimmer is red instead of blue. I think this color is perfect for winter, but honestly it’s perfect for any time of year. This took 3 coats to be fully opaque.
Iceberg is a bit of a chameleon. Some people call it blue and some people call it gray. I personally think it looks blue when it’s by itself, but any time I have used it in nail art, it definitely looks gray. Even when I wear it by itself though, many people say it’s gray not blue. I guess it depends on skin tone, lighting, clothes, etc. Either way, gray or blue, it is beautiful. It has a subtle shimmer that isn’t as striking as Meteorite and Indian Sair, but it still adds a lot of depth to the color. This needs 3 coats for full opacity. Technically I did 4 coats in this swatch because I wanted to see if the 4th coat made the polish look more blue or gray, but the 4th coat didn’t affect the color in the slightest.
Amethyst is my birthstone and I have always loved it. Give me anything called “amethyst” and I’ll probably like it. This color is no exception. Amethyst Surprise is a gorgeous silvery purple frost. I would call it a frosty lilac color. The frost finish does make it so brush strokes are extremely visible, so brush carefully. I did 4 thin coats for this to be fully opaque. I love this color for winter. So much that I used for my New Year’s Eve manicure. It’s also great for spring and summer.
